What you need to know!
Pet Store / Backyard Breeder / Puppy Mill, Responsible Breeder
and the differences among them all.
Thank you for your interest in our Pomeranians. They are very
special to us and I would like to do my best to inform you the
difference
in prices and care about a responsible breeder, pet stores, and
puppy mills.
If you are looking for a free pet or a low cost ($50.00-$400.00) you
will not find one here, however, your local shelter may have a very
beautiful healthy addition for you and your family. If your local
shelter does not have one for you, you may try online at
Petfinder.
Whether you choose to purchase your pet from a responsible breeder
or shelter, the costs in maintaining your pet from day to day will
still be the same. Veterinarian fee's, grooming supplies, dog food,
and the typical normal day to day costs of simply owning a pet.
Our four legged kids are more then just pets to us. We take great
pride and care to make sure they are live happy, healthy long lives.
We hope when you bring your puppy home that you feel the same way
about your four legged friend, after all you are purchasing
a family member that will provide you endless, unconditional love as
long as he or she lives.
Pet Store puppies are all cute and adorable when you walk in, with
there tails wagging at you and looking up at you with those big
eyes, its hard to resist. Its hard to walk away and not take one of
those cute puppies home with you but one thing you do not know is
that just days before you see those puppies they were living a
horrible life (90%) just prior living in conditions of puppy mills.
These pets are bred on every heat cycle, living in filthy
conditions, never receive medical attention and are transported at a
very young age in some cases as early as 4 weeks to the broker / pet
store. Many don't make it to the pet store, they die in transit.
(starvation, infection, etc) I could go on and on about such
horrible conditions but sometimes its just so unreal to believe.

Difference between Pet Stores , Backyard
Breeders and the Responsible Breeder.
| Pet Store /
Backyard Breeder / Puppy Mill |
Responsible
Breeder |
| - supply no guarantee,
your on your own |
- offers unlimited life
support (answers questions, etc) |
| - usually offers no
papers as in most cases the dogs are never registered, using
unhealthy dogs for producing for profit. |
- offers registration
papers (Canadian Kennel Club, AKC) |
| - health guarantee (so
many times I hear the story, I bought my dog from the pet store
and it dies 30 days later) |
- in such case if the
puppy dies from any hereditary/congenital conditions a
responsible breeder will replace that puppy |
| - no Pedigree, often
they don't know who or what the heritage is. |
- supplies a pedigree,
responsible breeders use the pedigree on knowledge on what
faults to eliminate, and good traits to improve on. Often you
will see CH, those dogs have been shown to obtain there
Championship. |
| - screening is null.
Money is the ultimate factor, and the wellness of the puppy is
non-existent. |
- asks questions to
insure your making the right decision, as well as the puppy will
be going to a good home. Perhaps by verbal, or application.
Responsible breeders sell there pet quality under a non-breeding
contract to insure that pet quality does not get produced just
to produce puppies. |
| - in many cases they
can never really tell you who the father was, and just because
your cure adorable puppy now looks like the breed standard, it
may not be purebred and end up being something else when full
grown. |
- parents of the
offspring are in the home or can show you pictures of them. |
| - breed solely for the
purpose of money! To produce tons of puppies to sell on the
market. |
- breeds for themselves
and in which cases will have the odd occasional puppy for
placement. Trying to better the breed and improve on
genetic faults. |
| - offers no recourse,
most dogs that are unable to reproduce are disposed of in which
case usually means death. |
- in any case that
should arise that you are unable to take care of said pet any
longer, the responsible breeder will take back the pet. |
| - in most cases they
are not members of anything, that cuts in on there profit
margin. |
- members of
organizations such as the Canadian Kennel Club, American Kennel
Club, and breed clubs. |
| - in most cases you
need to purchase the additional pet food and accessories.
Offers no communication once the puppy is sold. |
- offers a
Puppy Pack to help
out the little one in his or her new home. Here at SiuLong
Pomeranians we include the following in our puppy pack.
- CKC Registration (Non-Breeding (Pet))
- 6 weeks of Pet Insurance
- Pedigree (Lineage of your new addition)
